Why do male dancers wear tights over the leotard and female dancers wear tights

Question: Why do male dancers wear tights over the leotard and female dancers wear tights under it!?

It was just the looks that never changed!. They used to wear white shirts/t-shirts tucked!. Leotard invented the leotard, and it stayed the way for male dancers top tucked!. Nobody really knows why!. Women can wear it either way, depending on the school and teacher!. I supposed that it's more masculine that way ever since - considering male are wearing tights!. : )Www@QuestionHome@Com
