Do you have to stretch as often to maintain the ability to do the splits, once you have the ability!?

It doesnt matter how much you wiegh some people are naturally more flexible then others but you can work on your flexibilty by stretching everyday especially before and after you workout, i tell my dance students to sit in a split while they do their homework or watching tv and then you dont notice how much your stretching and it pays off also after you take a warm bath or shower stretch because when your warm you can stretch more and you do have to continue to stretch even after you have it because you can lose itWww@QuestionHome@Com

It usually doesn't matter weight but if you do lose weight it will be easier to hold it!. If you stretch everyday and hold it then you should be able to get it in one week easy but if you don't stretch in two days it will take you 2 weeks to get them how they were so stretch EVERY DAY!!! If you put a pillow or two under each leg and hold it in the splits it will help to get them faster!. Hopes this helps! Good luck!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It doesn't matter what your weight is: anyone can get a split! Stretch whenever you can, and always warm up before stretching so you don't pull a muscle!. Honestly, though, stretch whenever you have free time! Always try to go down into your split, and once you get as far as you can go, hold it there for 30 seconds (it kills, I know) then try to let go of the ground with your hands and hold that for 10 seconds!. Get back up, take a few deep breathes and try again, repeting the same proccess!. also, something that really helps is to not lean forward!. Sure, you get deeper into the split, but you don't get half of the stretch that you get when you lean your back towards your back leg!. I hope this helps!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
