Question: Dancers and Cheerleaders!?!?
Sport psychologist have been studying the relationship between sports and 3 traits, hypnotic ability/absorption ( the degree to which someone can block out what is going on around them, can focus well, daydream a lot, or forget that they are in a movie theatre while watching a movie), neuroticism (your level of anxiety), and repressive coping (not thinking of bad things, keeping bad memories out of your head, etc!.!.!.)!. I would like to know How you would rate your self in these three categories and how important you think each of these three categories are to dance and cheering!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think its double edged, in that, dance can be a great way to keep your mind of off bad things, or temporarily distract you from things that are bothering you, but I do think sometimes it can be the cause of those things, as well!.

Little bit of background, I'm 25 and have been a gymnast and dancer for 22 years!. I can't focus on anything, dance included! Seriously, you need to show me the combo 15 times before I even get what foot to start on!. I day dream all day LOL, and there are days I could very realistically tune out a movie, especially if I hear the music and think of ways to move to it!.

I was born worried, my user name should be Neuroces Like Woah!. My repressive COPING can be very short term, repressive TENDENCIES are very strong!. There's a difference!.

I can focus really well in dancing, like i can block out a lot of things, but as for studying for school im not so good at blocking out noise and distractions!. I also daydream a bit!.!.!.!.

I get stressed out a lot, but dance is a huge stress relief! I just get stressed out coz of school work and plus upcoming dance exams!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, umm when dance, the best dancers can block out the outside world!. The dance teacher asks you to leave your problems at the door!. Your outside life doesn't contend with dance!. But i think of other things, untill i start dancing or get on the stage!. I can get nervouse, but i don't really stress, but u can't let your life get involved but dancing takes things off the line!. But that's the only way to concentrate well!Www@QuestionHome@Com

dancing is important you use all of your body movement!. you can lose weight easier and you can have fun while your dancing and listening to music!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
