Hi, good question and I'm happy to help!.?

Jetés (by the way, theartisttwin, you didn't spell it right either, sorry) are something that all of my students struggle with, especially straightening the back leg!. So if it's any consolation to you, you're not alone -- it's a very common problem, and actually fairly easy to correct!.

Doing jetés properly is a very mind-over-matter ordeal, and in actuality, all you have to do is drag the leg through properly!. This may not be the most attractive and aesthetically pleasing ending for your jeté, but it will build good and healthy habits so that when you finish your jeté without dragging your foot through, you'll find your back leg straight!.

What I mean by "dragging the foot through" is at the end of your jeté, drag the foot through first position to deposit all kinetic energy and momentum that comes from the back leg of the jeté!. In other words, when you finish your grande jeté, take your foot, put it on the ground into tondu derriére, and brush the foot through first, as in en cloché or perhaps a ronde de jambré par terre!. In any case, your foot should end up in tondu devant croissé!. Trust me, if you focus on keeping your leg straight in the tondu and bringing it through straight first, you'll have a straight leg!. Eventually, you will be able to do away with dragging through first and ending up in tondu devant, but for now this is the way you should practice!.

Good luck and hope I helped!.?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If it helps, i used to have the same problem when i started dancing!. The way i fixed mine was to imagine doing teh splits in the air!. Think of trying to split as if on the ground in mid jump!. Just practise and you'll get it,

Hope that helps xxWww@QuestionHome@Com
