i had the same problem until about a month ago, when i simultaneously got both right and left splits!.

to stretch front legs, do front and side high kicks with both legs, do fan kicks (also called illusions) with both legs, grab your ankle and hold your leg up to the front and to the side!.

to stretch back legs and back, find a high counter top and put your leg straight back onto it (like a ballerina in arabesque) and arch your back as far back towards your leg as it will go!.

also, just sit in each split for about 2 min each!. i know it hurts, but just keep pushing down!. also, its significantly easier if you turn your legs out and push down

good luck with cheer tryouts=]Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sit with one leg bent in and the other straight out to the side (or as close as you can get!)!. Lean toward the straight leg (NO BOUNCING) and count to 25, sit up and count to 5, then back down, and do this 5 times for each leg!. Afterwards, stand up with one foot in front of the other (not directly, but as if you are taking a step), then bend over to your toes!. Do for both legs!.

Then lay on the ground with both legs straight!. Pull one leg straight up for count of 12!. Hold your leg at your calve, knee, or ankle for this!. Do it twice for each leg, and keep both legs straight the whole time!.

Now to prepare for going into the splits

Put one leg straight behind your body while sitting up straight, and bend the front leg almost as if you are going to sit on that front leg!. It will look like you are doing the splits with your front leg bent under you!. Lean toward the ground toward the front and count to 10!. Then, get on both knees, then stick out your leg in front of you and SLOWLY slide into the splits position as far as you can go!. Hold for 10, then repeat this whole paragraph for the other leg!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the best thing you can really do is to go down as far as you can while keeping your hips square and both legs straight
and just hold it there for a long time gradually letting your body relax into the position!.

and dont do any quickie stretching!.
you are getting nothing out of the stretch if you dont hold it for AT LEAST 20 seconds!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Put your leg on a bar or table and slide it as far as possible without hurting yourself!. You can also try laying on your back with your legs up on a wall, then open your legs and pull them down!. Last one is laying mouth down, then pull your leg up as high as possible!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

sounds weird but do the splits against the wall!. Like pretend the wall is the floor and extend a leg up and u can stretch it more this way!. try to get your supporting leg as close to the wall as possible thoughWww@QuestionHome@Com
