Of course not! Ballet is very wonderful and can also help you with jazz, but if you do not want to go en pointe, your teacher can't make you!. And, you start off on ballet slippers!. you can only go en pointe when your teacher thinks that you are good enough and even then, it's your decision! I love ballet and couldn't wait to get en pointe, it is very beautiful and feels like you're floating!. =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

They wont put you on pointe until you have developed strong ankles, which you get from doing years of ballet!. Ballet is extremely discipline, which is why I got tired of the strict rules after 11 years and I switched to jazz and lyrical!. I highly recommend you try lyrical/modern/contemporary because it has many similarities to ballet but it is much more liberal and expressive!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Teachers normally let you know when you are able to go on pointe!. Who knows you might want to try it but you dont have to because the choice is yours!. I strongly reccomend the ballet thought because everything is based off of balletWww@QuestionHome@Com

no, pointe is totally optional! usually pointe is a seperate class (at least that's how it is at my dance studio) and you don't have to take it if you don't want to!. have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com

no you do not have to if you just started then they won't ask u to do it you have to have alot of ballet technique and your ankels need to be strongWww@QuestionHome@Com
