Hi, great question and I'm happy to help!.

The most common term, in fact, for a male ballet dancer is a danseur!. But that's not what you're asking!. =]

The hardest trick for a ballet student is to eat enough energy-giving foods through the busy day of practice and performances, rather than just eating at the end of the day!. By eating through the day the student will have more energy and is less likely to gain excess weight, so time management is important, as well as what one eats!. Small, high-carbohydrate meals like drinks, dried fruits, yogurt, small healthy muffins, smaller sandwiches work well (too big a meal, too much fresh salads may feel uncomfortable to dance on, so eat the vegetables, salads more when you do not have to dance)!. Include some protein in nibbles like nuts, yogurt, milk, eggs and tinned fish for endurance!.

It is also important for a dancer to eat a balanced diet, especially on a rigorous schedule!. A "balanced diet" means the person eats different kinds of foods to sustain a solid and consistent level of insulin production until the next meal!. Insulin is the pure energy that your body uses!. It is essentially sugar!. All foods break down into sugar, some faster than others!. The fastest that break down into sugar, obviously, are fats and sugary foods!. Although you need these simple sugars for an immediate burst of energy, there are more healthy and effective ways to get them, such as simple carbohydrates (bread, pasta, cereal, etc)!. After the simple sugars are used, the more complex sugars begin to kick in!. This is because they take longer to break down!. Complex carbs (or sugars) can include beans, dairy products, and others!. Beans are a great food because they also have protein!. Proteins are the most complex sugars and take the longest to break down!. This should kick in last!. Proteins include beans, dairy products, meat, and others!. By eating all of these groups, ideally, the person should have a steady flow of insulin to fuel their body!.

Dancers should be especially aware of this because they burn so much energy!. My suggestion to you is to eat a balanced diet, and for a snack right before class pack some simple sugars, such as fruit!. You will get a burst of energy that should last you as long as your class isn't too long!. If your class is very long, I suggest getting trail mix!. Trail mix has all the groups of carbs in it!.

Good luck and hope I helped/?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I really don't eat differently than other people other than I'm a bit more health-conscious!. For example, I wouldn't eat ice cream as an after-school snack because my snack gives me energy for dance, so I would grab an apple or something healthy!. You're not going to find some set diet for dancers to use on your report because we are just normal people who eat pretty much like the rest of the population!.

PS-male dancers are danseurs, not ballerinos!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i'm a vegetarian!. i eat normal stuff - cereal, oatmeal, a bagel, or toast for breakfast!. maybe toast or a bagel, or just some random snacks for lunch, and usually pasta, vegetables, fruit, a salad, etc!. for dinner!. i sometimes have a protein bar if i'm tired or hungry at sometime that day haha
i have junk food too - chips, soda, etc!. but not that often!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We don't eat anything special, if you meant that!. We eat normal food!. We just might eat more than normal, to keep our energy up, but the food is just normal food with nothing special or out of world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

pick up some copies of Dance Spirit Magazine!. It'll tell you everything you'll need to know!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, we don't exactly eat any things different than you do!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
