Question: Switch leaps & pirouettes help!!?
Switch leaps:
Okay well i am really flexible, and i have pretty good leg strength!. i have both splits & oversplits but yet i cant seem to get my switch leap!. its so frustrating!!! does anyone have any tips on how to improve them or any drills or something that will help!!?

Pirouettes:
The most pirouettes i can do is two, and thats only after i've warmed up!. I've been dancing forever and my turns have always been my worst skill!. Again, does anyone have any tips or drills to help me improve, and be able to do more turns!. (i know the basics, spot, keep your knee straight, blah blah blah)Www@QuestionHome@Com

okay,
switch leaps:
do lots of calf raises for more leg strenth!?
start of with a high chasse so you have high momentom,
and start with you bad leg then switch into good leg,
i guess the only thing i can say is make sure you're leap is high so you have enough time to switch legs,
and tighten legs, bum and stomach,
tigher your body the lighter you are!.

pirouettes:
again really really tighten you bum and abs!
once you start spot on a spot on the wall and every turn go back to that spot,
with me i have learnt that when you do pivots/pirouettes you can do them perfectly everytime if you:
1, are in the centre of your body
2, spot
3, tigten everything,

if you do these three things you will get perfect pivots every time!
goodluck in your ballet im guessing!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, i dont know about switch leaps, but I do know about pirouettes!. You have to have a REALLY strong butt and really strong abs!. And like you probably know, u think up and squeeze everything!. I have found that I can do more pirouettes when I have stronger abs!. So I do A LOT of sit ups!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

switch leaps-
jump high and try to make ur first leg is low!. make sure that the leg can still be seen when switching!.

pirrouettes-
squeeze your stomach mussels and bottom!. spot, and make sure you pull your arm from third ballet position to first fast and strong!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

for switch leaps:
i'll explain this in left-footed terminology!. if your right foot is stronger/more dominant then just switch everything around!.
start with a sashé on your right foot, then step with your left!. as you step with your left foot, bring your right foot close to the left one!. take a little hop-type thing on your left foot while whipping your right leg back so its parallel to the floor!. keep doing this till you can get it comfortably!. then start working the same thing, but get the hop on your left foot higher!. maybe try stag-ing it a bit, with your left foot bent!. then try it with the left leg straight!. the main thing about this is getting the left leg high enough to also be parallel to the floor!. work on snapping the two legs up togehter!. this requires hip flexors! so make sure you work on those!. [for a quick workout, try sitting in a saddle and placing your right hand between your legs, and the left one outside your left leg!. then lift up your leg and do some reps!. repeat with the other leg!. then try both @ the same time]

for pirouettes, make sure you keep on your toes as long as you can!. keep your butt & core tight, as tight as possible!. this will help you spin faster!. or at least it should =D
also try keeping the free foot [the one youre not spinning on] close to the other leg!. im not really sure how dance does it, but in gymnastics, we say that the two ankles should be really close to each other!.

hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com
