Question: Becoming a good dancer again!?
i started dancing at 3 yrs old and i was dancing until i was about 9 or ten and then i quit!. i was doing ballet, tap and jazz and i really really enjoyed it!. many of the teachers said i had raw talent and i really did feel quite confident at my dance shows!. i am now 14 and i am starting dance classes again, it is a smaller dance group and has younger kids in it (there isnt a higher class) i said i was ok with that because i wanted to build up my dancing ability again!. i used to be very flexible and i could do the splits but now i can hardly open my legs without it hurting , i am really really unflexible!. i really have the urge to be able to become flexible again and to become a good dancer!. some people said that because i used to be very flexible i have an advantage to becoming flexible now!. is this true!? and are there any tips for me to if you like kind of bring back my 'talent' (im nt sure if that made sense ) but basicly do i have an advantage!? and can i bring back my 'talent' !?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm a professional dancer with a large company and I will tell you now that -

15 minutes a day won't do it!. If you are really passionate about getting back, and getting your flexibility back, you need to stretch HOURS a day!. You better stretch in the morning, afternoon and evening!. Sit in the splits, watch tv in the splits, do homework in the splits and it helps to also have someone stretch you and push your leg up!.

At 14, you are starting to tighten up!. The best age to stretch is of course when you are younger, however it is definitely not impossible to gain all of your flexibility back at this age!.

Sure, you can bring back your "talent," whatever it was to begin with, it's still there as long as you know it's in you!. As in all forms of everything, practice makes perfect!. Don't give up, don't settle for less, and don't settle for imperfection!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course you can bring back your talent and your flexibility! You just have to stretch for at least 15 minutes every day and you will see results really fast!. Go to as many classes as you can and ask your teacher questions!. I know a woman who is 60 years old and she can do the splits! I started doing gymnastics when I was 11 and now I'm 13 and I'm a competitive gymnast!. All you need is practice, determination, and confidence to accomplish your dreams!!=D Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I was in the same position as you are right now about 3 months ago!. I was VERY inflexible and really wanted to start dancing again!. I said to myself one day, i am going to work on becoming a dancer again!. All i did was stretched everyday for 20 minutes for about 2 months, and i got my splits back!. I asked my local YMCA if i could use their studios when they were not in use to brush up on my skills, and they said yes!. Now i can do the splits, fouettes, doubles, triples, EVERYTHING AGAIN! all you have to do is say to yourself tonight, I am going to become a dancer again!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.AND DO IT! I just made my high schools poms/dance team!.!.!.!.!.!.so go for anything, no matter how far you are away from it!Www@QuestionHome@Com
