Question: Pointe shoes- Suede tips- !?!?
Anyone have suede tips on their pointe shoes!?!? I just wondered if you prefer the suede being on the tips of your shoes or the satin tips instead on a pointe shoe!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

i have never heard of being able to buy pointe shoes with suede tips!. however, my dance teacher always told us to buy that dr!. scholl's moleskin (like you put on corns and other nasties on your feet) in the little sheets, and we cut an oval the size of our toe to stick on and prevent slipping!. i guess it was just a quick easy alternative to darning!. so, as ive never had just satin tips, i prefer the moleskin (which feels somewhat like suede)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't use anything on my pointe shoes!. My studio has marley flooring, which is sticky enough to prevent falling but slippery enough to allow you to turn, so I don't need anything in the tips of my shoes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

wow, is this new i've never heard of them, i just darn my satin ones, i imagine that this lasts longer too as the suede would get shiny and lose grip!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The shoe with suede is the capezio durotoe, which I actually dont think is even manufactured anymore!. You can still buy them because many stores carried them solely for years!.
They dont fit eveery foot, and the few dancers I've fit who wear them dont ever mention any preference in the material!.

Are you thinking of darned shoes or pointe covers!? Elaina!.!.!.its not an option to buy suede toed shoes, I've been in this business for years!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, I do not prefer the suede!. It's very slippery!. At first it does grip nicely, but the fibers are flimsy and don't grip the floor and give you enough traction as rosin and satin will!. The fibers fall off quickly!. I recommend not getting the suede!.

Hope I helped!. ??Www@QuestionHome@Com

the suede tips are fine! and so much easier than darning the shoe yourself!.!.!.!.!. however if the tip does come loose after a couple of months or so, they are quite easy to take off and buy new ones!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends it your dance studio had slippy floors!. If it does then it;s a good idea for extra grip!. If not then it doesn't really matter even though I found them a little weird to get used to because of the extra grip!Www@QuestionHome@Com
