I've been at the same school for the 11 years I've been dancing ballet and our rules are:
You're 12+
You have been attending at least a year
You have been working hard in class
You have strength
Our teacher checks our feet to make sure our bones have developed!. I recommend you buy "ouch pouches" - they really help!. I love doing pointe work!! Its soo fun and I dont even find it sore!. Its all good!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

at my studio, i believe the only requirement is that you're 12 years old or older and you have to be able to do a double pirouette!. i don't take ballet but that's what my friends were telling me!. however, i go to a small, laid back studio so in most places it's probably a lot harder and requires more experience but i don't know!. i just know what they do at my studio!.

in general though, you need to be very flexible, have good balance, and have strong ankles!. i really don't know much about ballet though!.

best of luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

what it really depends on is your personal strength!. most girls arent allowed on pointe until their feet have stopped growing, at risk of shaping the feet permanently!. It has a lot to do with your turn out, ankle strenghth, and ballet experience!. I'm warning you now, it's harder than it looks and takes a looot of practice!

*flexibility does not have much to do with pointe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should have strong ankles in order to carry your weight on pointe!. also in our school, you got to be 11+!. Good Luck!!! =DWww@QuestionHome@Com

well, it depends on the studio!.!.!.first of all, your teacher will tell u if ur ready!. Second for him/her to say that, you probably will need strong ankles!. You proably will need to like a lot of turns, balances, foot excersises, and a hec of a lot of ankle excersisesWww@QuestionHome@Com

It completely depends on your dance studio/school!. Every one is different!. At my studio, you can only get on pointe by teacher recommendation and you have to be really strong with great technique!. I think the most important thing is to have strong ankles, because it's easy (and very common) to get injured on pointe!. Work your way up slowly; I took a year and a half of Pre-Pointe class before finally going on pointe!. also, you probably shouldn't be much younger than 12!. Hope that was helpful!Www@QuestionHome@Com

what evr everyone saidWww@QuestionHome@Com

okay people who go to a ballet school usually start pointe at around 9 when the bones in their feet have hardenend and fully grown!. so theyll let u after ur 9!.( or something around that age depending on your techer)
you should be able to dance with turnout and have a good pointe( if you dnt have one, youll ahve to have stronger ankles)
also youll have to be able to do 32 heel rises continuosly in the centre( i can do 100so u should practise them evrey day)
also have to have a number of years of dance training
also you shouldnt be overwieght

have fun!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Get strong demi-pointe!! If you have a weak demi-pointe, you will have such sore feet in your pointe shoes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Be at the very least age 9, I recommend most girls be at least 12!. Have very good technique, and strong ankles!. also you should have a few years of ballet training and technique classes!. Your teacher will most likely tell you when you are ready and not before!. A "can do" attitude helps as well!. Good luck, keep dancing!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should have a strong core to hold you up, and ankles that don't wobble very much, if at all!. You should be able to do at least sixteen good releves without leaning on the bar!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you must be at least grade 6 to wear pointe!. that will be what your teacher will tell you but usually people only start wearing pointe when they are grade 7 and above!. this is to ensure that your arche and everything else on your legs are strong enough, or else you will injure yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

at my studio, you should be 11 years old!. you should also should have great strength in your ankles, feet, and back!. And the way you're saying your question, you're making it seem like you are going to just put yourself on pointe!. The teacher is the one who tells when you're ready!. If you don't follow this, you could end up seriously injuring yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

duh basic balletWww@QuestionHome@Com

I do pointe and at our dance school you have to have very strong feet and ankles, also you have to be on grade 5 or above and been doing ballet for a considersble amount of timehope that helpsWww@QuestionHome@Com

You should at least be 12 so your ankles are fully developed, have taken ballet, and have strong ankles and legs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In my dance school the dance director comes in to look at your class at the end of the year she then decides if you are turning out correctly, using your abs, and if your ankles are strong enough to start pointe work!. Hope this helps!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should know the basics up and down!. also, you should be able 12-13 or older because of the development of certain joints and the stress you'll be putting on them!. Then, you need to have strong feet, ankles and a strong core!. You'll need all of those to be able to handle the weight and pressure you are putting on your feet!.

I am assuming your going to be starting pointe soon or are planning on it, so good luck, have fun, be safe!Www@QuestionHome@Com

you should be at least 12!.!.!. just for safety reasons- most people aren't physically able to dance on pointe before then!.
you should also have a basic knowledge of ballet!.!.!.
i wouldn't start pointe if you've only been dancing for a year or so!.!.!.
as far as specifics go, at my old studio we used to do 'pre pointe' classes where we'd do excercises with thera bands (like people use in pilates) to strengthen our feet, then we'd practice TONS on releves!. some on demi-pointe, some with our toes spread as far apart as we could, and some balanced on our toes!.
this helped because we'd have the barre for support, so we got used to balancing on our toes!.!.!. now i can stand on pointe barefoot for a while ( which scares people)!.
we'd also practice 'snatch' releves where we'd start in first or second position and releve up to either a tight first or sous-sus!. this helped strengthen the muscles for drawing up onto our toes!.

so yeah, just really try to work on strength and technique!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well, your feet should be strong, try doing lots of releve's on one foot!. Switch feet constantly so your feet are both strong!. At my ballet school, there is a certain age you have to be, but they could let you do it if you were really good!. Another thing, when you do pointe, if you move up to another level, make sure your POSTURE IS GOOD!!! Posture aids in everything!. It holds you up, like your back!!!! Be CAREFUL too!. Don't try doing crazy things because you could fall and break your ankle!!! Good luck!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
