Question: What should i do to prepare for a dance audition (for my school dance company)!?
i have about 3 weeks!. im willing to commit about 2 hours of every day to preparing and getting back in shape!. the types of dance im auditioning in are across the floor (leaps and turns ect), jazz, ballet, modern, and lyrical

i took tap jazz and ballet for 7 years but ive been out of dance for about 2-3 years and im pretty out of shape!. i am still flexible, but i need to work on cardio, leaps, spins, leg and ankle strength, core training!.!. oh my i have a lot to work on haha any suggestions!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

For cardio you should do running (both long distance and sprints are good), stair running, and dance!. Where I live, there are some dance studios, like Fisher and Gus Giordano, that offer some walk in dance classes where you can get a very good workout, so maybe you can find a place like this around where you live!. Review some of the jazz and ballet you know because I'm sure that will help your technique!. For spins, I would suggest clearing a large space of your house where you have hard or floors and practice them there!. That's what I always do!. A good exercise for ankle strength are heel raises!. Stand on the bottem stair of a staircase or something so that you're facing the stairs!. Stand on the stair with your heels hanging off the edge and press up onto your toes!. If this is too easy then you can try this exercise with light weights!. A really good exercise for core training is one my old dance teacher taught me, she called it the "mermaid"!. You need to make some space on a hardwood floor and lie on your side so that you're kinda balancing on your hip!. Then put your hands down slightly in front of you for support!. Swing your legs around in front of you from side to side!. If you keep doing this for a while you really start to feel it!. And of course, just eat right and get enough rest and just try your best!. U should do sit-ups to get ur stomach tight!.Do a couple
plee as (Idk how u pell stuff) Practice ur spotting!. Strech a lot!.

since you haven't dance in awhile make sure you don't over exert yourself, because you don't want to end up getting injured before you even audition!. if you can, try to get into a dance class to make sure you are training correctly!. if you cant just try to keep a healthy diet, tone yourself up with video aerobics or pilates just to get stronger and muscle tone!. also, since you said you need to work on cardio, try to get a friend to jog with you, or if you have a treadmill devote at least 10 minutes to that!. but most importantly, don't put yourself down!. if you go into the audition pointing out everything you have working against you, you're going to be too bummed to do your best!. just believe in yourself an d do your best!. i hope all goes well!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
