Question: Is this tradition worthy!?
i'm a second year veteran for my dance team, today was the day we found out who the rookies were!. so some other vets and i devised a plan to make a fake list, with only our names on it, and put it up over the fake one!. it was priceless!! i think its kind of a way to put the rookies in their place, show em that we're in charge!. i think we should do it every year!. do yall think this is a good tradition!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

No I don't think its a good tradition!. You must have been scared when you first started on your dance team, they are going through the same thing!. I hope you apologize to them :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

yea its kinda funny!. ull get a laugh or two from itWww@QuestionHome@Com

Not really!. They know that they are new, and some of them probably have never have danced in front of a crowd!. If they are smart enough- or at least have the common sense- they should know where they stand!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

what does your heart say!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it was plain mean!.

What a great way to welcome them into the group!. Exclude them altogether!.

Everyone is new at one time or another!. You were new once too!.

And what did you mean by this!?!?!? "a way to put the rookies in their place, show em that we're in charge!."

You are not the coach of the team!. Why should you be in charge!? And why would they need putting in their place!? Are you afraid they will be better then you!? Is there jealousy!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

its a funny/harmless haze joke!.!.but not for "putting them in their place" that shouldn't be the reason behind doing it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

huh!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's a horrible tradition! I was a cheerleader for 4 years and the older girls liked doing that too!. what our team would do though was teach a rally cheer wrong to the freshman, when they got out in front of their classmates they looked like total idiots!. When i became the veteran cheerleader (and captain) i put a stop to it because it makes team bonding is really tough!.
also when i was a new cheerleader i was already scared of the older girls so the harassing wasn't necessary!.
i think that it is important to make the new people comfortable!. if you must have traditions do things that can be passed down from year to year that don't hurt other people!. better yet start a tradition yourself and it can be your legacy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no!. find some tradition that's funny, nice, and includes everyone!. how would you feel!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

As funny as that is, you won't create as much team unity as if you had a party or something with all the team members!. By doing that, you make rookies feel disconnected and like they don't belong to the team!. What if you all went to someone's house and had a sleep over or something!? That would promote unity and show that everyone is an equal part of the team!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
