Question:i have been taking ballet since i was 4, and now i'm 13. this year im at a new school that provides a ballet class for 90 minutes 5 days a week. my friend does pointe there and i was over at her house and i tried on her point shoes. dont get me wrong i was kind of scared, and my toes cramped up after it. i think i should have waited before trying on pointe shoes. and also they wernt even my size! i guess i was just so excited to try on pointe shoes i did it anyways. i didnt get badly injured though because i only balanced in releve. what do you think?

you should have waited because it is easy to get injured in pointe shoes cause they are so bad for your feet...but i know what its like to be excited...you just dive in without thinking!
get some of your own and start lessons, its really fun!!

Yes, you should have waited.

Balancing in releve is not going to kill you, but pointe is something that needs to be taught in order for it to be done correctly.

Also, it is not good for your friends pointe shoes for you to wear them.

Talk with your ballet teacher about your interest in pointe.

Lol. I've done the same thing in the past before I actually took point.
Your feet are going to kill you when you start taking these new ballet point classes. It's TOTALLY worth it.
You would just need your own, and your actually size.
Get them fitted properly when your buying them.
and then your new ballet class will help you break them in slowly and correct.
You can also do some pile & releve excercises once you get them. You just need to wear Wool socks over them, so they get heated while you work, and then they can form to your feet.

Good luck.
xo Have fun Dancing!!!!!!!!!

i'm fourteen and have to been going ballet since i was 4 and in grade 6 and my ballet teacher won't let me start one my points for another year even though everyone else in my class is on their points. Its cos i skipped a grade and everyone in my class is a year older.
You shouldn't go on your points until told to by a teacher (certified), and you defonately shouldn't use shoes to small. It takes months to learn how to properly use point shoes and it is likely you could have injured yourself so your lucky you didn't but

DON'T DO IT AGAIN. cos the reason u have to wait is ballerina's especially in russia have deformed toes from using pointe shoes to early
