Question:WHen i got down in a split, im pretty close on my right, and ok on my left. can i go down really far, and push myself to hold it for one or two minutes, listening to music or watching tv to take my mind off of it? or is 1 - 2 minutes too much? i realllllyyyy wanna be able to do one, so i can get my full leaps! im sooo jelous of the girls who just go right into a split, and can leap and do an over-split!

i was never flexible, but everyday over the summer i danced and stretched at home! before i couldnt touch my toes, but now i can fold flat and almost get my elbows down! i used to be really far off the ground in a split, and im aLOT closer, so there is hope.

tips and time for splits?

do it for as long as you can. But when yopu're as far as you can go while holding youself up with your arms, lift them up and clap them over your head. It makes yoju go down even further but it doesn't hurt (with me at least) hold that until it starts hurting and just practise that a lot. I always listen to music while i do it.

if it doesnt hurt to hold it for 2 minuets
then its just fine

Well I'm pretty flexible and can jump and do the splits.I've been doing gymnastics since i was 3 so that makes it pretty easy.Anyway you should take gymnastics or ask a friend to tutor you.I tutor a couple of girls in gymnastics.

if you're trying to do a split,gymnastics won't help...

i would do what you're already doing,stretch as much as you can.it will definetly help you in the end.there's no special techniques to getting your split,just stretching!

i'm in drill team so i just went through this.

make sure you stretch REALLY good then get as flat as you can into your splits.
if you dont hold yourself up while in the splits you will go down further.
stretch for at least 15 minutes everyday and you should be able to get your splits flat.
dont push yourself too much in one day or you could pull something.
but each day push yourself a little farther and youll be able to do it!
dont set an amount of time just hold it as long as you can without it hurting too bad.
