Position:Home>Dancing> Be honest should i even try?

Question:i'm 16 and i'll be a Jr. next year. My fresh man and sophmore year i tryd out for cheerleading not one not two but three times. (twice for JV cheerleading once for Varsity.)

I've been dreaming of being on a Dance team sense i was 8 i used to watch the dance competitions and tell my self that would be me someday.

Dance team try outs are next week and part me says TRY! TRY TRY!! the other part says YOU WONT MAKE IT! every time i failed it took a piece with me idk how i could go threw not making it. I know that i was born to do this but at the same time i dont want everyone to see me as the girl who trys and trys and NEVER makes it

What do you think i should do? should i give up and just face the reality that i'll never be the best. Or should i try?

BTW i cant do the splits

~What's worse: not trying out and never knowing if you would have made it or trying out and not making it? The reality is even if you don't make it, you'll get to see what you might need to learn to try out next time.

Look if your one of those people who doesnt practise or put effort(dont lie to yourself) then no it probably wont happen.
but if your not , how will you know if you didnt try.
look at the girls last year that got in and see what they were like and maye learn from them.
just remember its 20% talent and 80% heart

yea u should go

try!
you have to.
and being able to do the splits helps, but it itsn't mandatory.
just dance.
good luck!

Yes and if you fail sign up for a dance class during the summer that should help you learn how to retain moves faster.
Who cares how people see you after high school believe me those people won't remember anything.

It sounds like you THINK that you are meant to dance, but the fact that you haven't taken steps to get better and increase your chances of making it is a red flag to me. It says 'I want this, but I'm not willing to make too much of an effort to get it.' To make dance team (which at my school is a lot harder to make than cheerleading) you usually need to be at least at an intermediate level in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, and hip-hop. You could start classes this year and try out next year or just try your luck at this audition. I don't know how competitive your dance team is or how difficult their routines are, so base your decision on that. See if there is a list of things you need to be able to do to even make it.

Absolutely go for it. I know with my dance team, what our coach looks for in try-outs is dedication and hard work. If you give it your best shot, you'll at least be able to say you tried and come out with a great experience (maybe some new dance moves!)
If you want it, but don't really work to get it, you won't make the team, so commit and practice your hardest. Even if you don't make it, you'll still be a better dancer.

PS: All splits take are daily stretching. You can do it!

You are still young so go for it. If you feel in your heart that this is what you really want to do, then I'd suggest you go for it.

If you don't make it, it is part of the growing process, brush it off and try again. The only problem you have, is the lack of confidence. You shouldn't care about what people say or think of you. If you know deep down you want something, don't let anyone get in your way.

As for the splits comment, if you practice, in time you will get it. Listen to more and more music, develop your musicality and natural rhythm, gain confidence and you'll be on your way.

What you put in is what you will get out of it so if you're not willing to put in the hard work - don't expect yourself to be in the team,

Good luck! Go for it and try! ;)
