Question:My studio is starting to prepare solo, duets, and trios for next season and my friend Gage wanted me to do a hip-hop duet with him.
He is an AMAZING hip hopper...the problem is...he is like a whole head shorter than me! ha.

We talked to our instuctor about it and she said "thats an interestiong idea" haha.

We are the same age he is just really short so what does everyone think should we go for it anyway? or do you think it would just be to weird?

naw it's hiphop- if you're good no one will care. where i dance i'm a whole head taller than everyone in my class (although i'm also 3+ years older than them all though). my friends joke about it and stuff but the audience doesn't care. just go out there and be amazing :)

if he's as good as u say he is i don't think people would pay attention to is height.if ur a really good dancer people won't be able to focus on anything else

If you are both synchronized, height shouldn't matter, it may actually add character to the duet. Focus on synchronization! Best of luck!

hip hop is ok as long as u wear flats and he wears shoose that are taller. but since its hip hop it would look ok

In ballroom it would be a problem. In hip hop, who cares?
For historical precedent, check into Whitey's Lindy Hoppers at the Savoy in the 1920's and 30's. Shorty George Snowden was almost a foot shorter than the woman he danced with, a pattern called the Shorty George with the man crab-walking between his partner's legs survives to this day, and they often finished a show with her carrying him offstage.
