Question:I have a gymnastics comp tomorrow (Saturday) and I'm scared that I will get too nervous when I actually compete. This will be my 3rd comp but my second one didn't go very well:( How can I be less nervous and get more confidence? Also what should I eat for breakfast before the comp so I will have as much energy as possible and I will be completly ready? Thankyou so much!!:)

Hey! First, don't eat anything that will leave you feeling bloated or gassy...that only leads to anxiety! I usually stuck with soemthing small, then ate little snack throughout the meet, as opposed to one giant meal. I usually did something like cheese and crackers (I have a very queasy stomach so I tried to stick with dry foods) or maybe nuts throughout the meet. In the morning, if I was particularly hungry I'd do something like scrambled eggs. Concerning an energy boost, carbs are your best bet, and they burn off quickly, Atkins be damned. Eggs. lightly buttered toast, some cereal if milk doesn't lag you down. Meets, as you know, can last freakin forever so make sure to pak soemthing to pick on.

The day before, don't go doing a whole lot fo training and making yourself sore, do a good touch, stretch a little, make sure you have plenty of time to sleep so youre not groggy the next day. Think about what elements lower your scores typically, and what you can do to make them a bit better. Visualize what you know the routine should be.

Good luck!

Stop worrying. Probably, by thinking so much about nervousness, you are making yourself more nervous than you have to be. Competitions are really scary the first few times, but after a while it doesn't seem like a big deal anymore. Just remind yourself of all the hard work you've put into just making that level, and who really cares if the scores aren't that great?

As for breakfast, it depends on you, but I always had yogurt and a bagel before meets =]

Good luck!
