Capri-length stretchy sweat pants or jazz pants are great, but don't wear them too loose. Wear a long, light weight cami top that's stretchy and comfortable over a sports bra. Two bright, coordinating colors are best. Tan/toast convertible tights (with a hole in the bottom of the foot so you can roll them up on your leg) are always a good idea, especially if you're not used to your jazz shoes and want to put something over your feet at first so you don't get blisters. Always pull your hair back in a sleek pony tail if it's long enough. And, most important for musical theater, always smile!

Like some black pants (long)
and a tank top really
or you can wear shorts with tights underneath
ummm no jean like material because it will restrict your movement.
yeah thats all i can think of
why cant you wear shorts>>>>???? thats stupid hey

dark colored loose and streatchy pants. Jazz pants or Yoga pants both work well. or tights or leggings.

a t-shirt (not too baggy), tank top, or leotard.

Its hard to go to a new class not knowing what the unofficial dress code is. I would suggest calling in advance and asking. If you still don't have a clue, bring a variety of items so you can find something similar to what the other students are wearing.

Wear capri-length spandex, like the kind that you wear under a skirt. You should also probably wear a tank top, any sort of dark color, over it, until you know the dress code. Jazz shoes are fine, if it's musical theater maybe call and ask if it's a good idea to bring character heels. Always have a hair tie, and bring warmups, like sweats. =)
