Question:How can a person build muscles but yet be flexible (like Hrithik Roshan) ? It's not that I wanna be that way I'm just curious... Most bodybuilders are really not that flexible and cant dance but a select few are crazy dancers... What brings about the difference... What is the IDEAL body for a person who wants to dance well? The reason why most bodybuilders aren't flexible is that they don't think of it. Building muscle over muscle is guaranteed to make you LOOK strong and tough, but if you never stretch them out, they'll lose their buff in a few years. Dancers are strong as hell but they appear skinny, right? That's because they stretch it out. Exercise like running and intense lifting will stunt muscle growth (length-wise). Flexible bodybuilders get that way simply because they stretch along with their training.

There really isn't an ideal body for somebody who wants to dance well. Look at Donyelle Jones and Jesus Solario (I took class from Jesus in real life and he really packed on those er, muscles. But he moves like an angeeeeelllll). "Good" dancing just basically needs great rhythm, ability to follow music, and the ability to let go and just dance.

If you are a serious dancer, then yes, you do need lots of flexibility. Especially nowadays, because everybody is just getting so flexible that everyone tries to outdo each other and we all just end up with loose joints, hyperextension, and zero cartilage in our knees. =)

well most bodybuilders dont concentrate on being able to strech out like a pretzel there more worried about apperance than flexibilitly... best thing to do that i can think of is to be a well rounded body builder mean to do arobics and such.. strech as much as you can do alot of balancing exercises .. stuff like that

The bodybuilders that I've known do seem to have problems with flexibility. If someone wants to improve their strength, muscle tone, flexibility, and balance, they will probably find pilates to be quite effective for them to achieve those goals. I study and perform belly dance. Most belly dancers that I know do pilates and/or yoga, along with aerobic conditioning. If someone wants to be a strong dancer, pilates would probably be a good choice for them. They can gain strength without bulking up.

No, inability to dance has more to do with not being fast enough. Bodybuilding doesn't teach you to be fast. Unless you want to be an outstanding dancer or a professional, average flexibiliy is sufficient.

well maybe.

to improve flexibility just stretch a lot. idk much about body building but...idk
their abs will make them do amzing turns though lol their leaps may suck because of flexibility but a stong core helps a dancer to turn 100 times if they want lol and if they have the momentum. also it depends what kind of dancing.
