Ballet tights(convertibles are good if you have other classes, you can roll them up off your ankle and out of sight)
Leotard, depending on the size of your boobs you may need a high backed one with sleeves to cover a bra, if you don't need to wear one you can wear low backed camisole straps. Plain colours are best for ballet, don't get something intended for competing gymnasts! Holographic glitter is right out.
A bit of hairspray, a bun net, a load of pins(bun pins, not kirby grips) and if your hair's short, a donut.

You may want a crossover or t-shirt for the barre to keep warm as well.

edit: Oh yeah. Water. Lots of it.

Leotard and tights. Good attitude. :-)

Get split sole, canvas ballet slipppers, a camisole leotard and mesh tights with a seam that matches your skintone. Leg warmers might come in handy. Hair stuff is important, your hair should be slicked back and in a nice, neat, round bun that lies low in the back. Your should fill your bag with adhesive tape, bandaids, hairstuff, wash cloth, deodorant, etc. Get ready to work very hard and very specifically. Good Luck!!!!!

You still need some pink tights and a leotard or two. Make sure you find out if the studio has a dress code so you know if you need a particular leotard color or style. Legwarmers and dance shorts are really useful for warming up on colder days, so you might want to get some.

To be honest it doesn't matter what equipment/clothing you have, but rather certain phsical and emotional qualities:

Good hieght, posture and stamina and determination, self-belief and a passion for the art.

I have seen persons from very poor background with the tardiest of equipment/amneties achieve great things purely through their drive and passion to achieve in what they love.

I wish you well, and even if you dont have all new or branded, at least your love and willingness will be original - Good Luck!

possible a ballet skirt to be worn at center

thats about it...goodluck!!

Especially when doing pointe work, you will need extra ballet shoes.

Tutus and tights are almost always mandatory.

And also, no flyaway hair in ballet. Ballet has a lot of quick turns
(e.g., fouettes, pirouettes, tours en l'air); any loose hair would be un-aesthetic. Keep the hair in a pony tail if possible.

Foot undies, jazz shoes, possibly ballet slippers, tights, leotards.....
:D

Find out what the others wear in your ballet class!

My girls (age 11-15) wear the formal stuff (leotard, tights etc) for exams, but for class they wear black jazz pants, the dance school T shirt and whatever shoes are needed for the dance style of that lesson (they do ballet, tap and jazz).

If you have to wear tights, consider open toe ones - you can't poke your toenail through them; and ballet tights aren't cheap!

You need pink split sole leather shoes. Leg warmers to warm up your legs and allow you to stretch out as to not pull any muscles. Wear your hair in a bun by making a ponytail, then twisting the hair around. Use hair tie things (what are they called?) to secure the hair and put a hair net on the bun. Hairspray the hair back so there is no flyaway hair.

Leotards, tights, ballet shoes, hair pins, clips, hair elastics, hair spray, hair nets, warm ups (leg warmers, slippers, sweaters...) and confidence

Go to your first class just in jazz pants/trakkies and a t shirt and ask them if you need a particular leotard or if they recommend any brand of shoe. That way you won't get the wrong stuff.
Good luck!
