I disagree with Gina. A big fake smile looks better than nothing! And it looks much better than a bored look on your face. Just practice a simple routine and at certain cues do a little wink, or head pop or cute little cheerleader gasp (if you know what I'm talking about, if not watch some little girls do competitive cheerleading on youtube! lol) Do open mouthed simile, showing teeth and close mouth only showing lips when the music slows down. To do really great facials expressions think of something that will make you burst out laughing! Lots of coaches I know will make funny faces at their squad to make them laugh or smile.

The single worst facial expression you can have while dancing is a big fake smile. It drives me CRAZY to see people dancing with huge grins on their faces because you can tell it's completely fake. If you feel any emotion whatsoever when you're dancing, convey that on your face. If you feel nothing when dancing, consider a different hobby. Without passion and artistry, dance is not dance.

to perform a dance well u really need to show the audience you love dancing!!!

not just by smiling but by moving your head a bit and your eyes!!

this is a really hard thing to conquer if it doesn't come naturally but if you keep watching your face in the mirror whilst you dance then you will see what you need to do!!

have a look at some dancers on you tube in your style of dance and watch their faces!!

good luck!!

oh and don't forget to smile :D

Facial expression comes from your thoughts. I know you've been working hard on your dancing especially on your technique, but you can't be thinking technique during performance. Or else it will all come out on your face and you will look like you have a stomach ache. Instead, let yourslef enjoy your own dancing. Make occasional eye contacts with people in the audience, smile. Smiling more is better than smiling less. Depending on the dance routine and your own personalty, maybe you could wink. That would work for Latin but not for ballet though. If nothign else comes out without feeling stupid then just smile.
