Sock hop??

Question:our student council has a sock hop next friday. we want our 8th graders to do a dance for the little kids. or maybe the student council to do something. but we dont know what song, or an easy dance. some kids think their too cool to do this, but some really like the idea. if you have any ideas, i would grately appreciate them.

First, I would consider making the performance optional. Let the kids who are into it really make it amazing, and let the kids who think they are too cool stay out of it (and be jealous later, he he he) It ruins the experience for the excited kids when some of the group doesn't want to be there. Or you can make everyone learn the dance, but performing the dance optional.

I suggest "At the Hop" the original from the 1950's was by Danny and the Juniors, but there have been tons of great covers as well. It has an easy, consistent tempo, and the lyrics talk about all the dances you do "at the hop" and the different people "at the hop"
It is fun and would be easy to choreograph, and totally thematic.
