Position:Home>Dancing> How can I convince my mom to let me take ballet classes?

Question:I know the basics and stuff, and pirouttes (sp?), and what not---I took ballet for two years, and learned incredibly fast.

I don't know what happened, but dance classes just stopped...
Hmmm......
Anyway,
I've been wanting to do ballet for a year and a half now, but I'm kind of scared to ask my mom.
We would be able to pay for it and stuff, if you want to know that or whatever.

So, PLEASE please please answer my question!

Thank you soooo much! :)

why are you scared? well anyway, just tell your mom that:

- you get good posture from taking ballet classes
- you learn to get things quickly
- it's good for college scholarships
- it's good for your health

Just keep trying to convince her. She won't know how you feel unless you tell her. She can't read your mind....

do really good in school and after u bring her an all a report card, ask her to let u join ballet if u keep up good grades like those

It'll be good for your health, as you will do some Cardio.

Tell her it's good for exercise and it helps you express your feelings...that's how my sister got to do it

You've wasted a year and a half by not asking. You already know what you should do, which is sit your mother down and explain to her that you would really like to try Ballet. If she says no, keep showing an interest and she may support you in it.

make a proposal... she will notice that you are serious about ballet classes... and she'll think its cute... who does a proposal to be able to go to ballet classes!! lol

Ballet improves posture and grace. It also strengthens your body. Tell her you'll chip in for the classes with chore money or something.

Have u tried yelling at her? or crying at her? My kids do that to me and it works!

just say its something you really want to do. Just ask plain out... say 'mom, i wanna take ballet!' :)
hope it helps!

well,
if your mom was really supportive of you before when u were doing dance, then she shoudl be okay with it now.

and if not, then jsut explain how it looks really good on college apps, good exceriseze, its good to be involved in stuff, etc.
lol

:]

just tell ehr that ur really into it and that you wont quit

I DO DANCE TOO, I LOVE DANCE :]]]]

tell her that you REALLY want it. and that it's something you wouldn't give up on, save money. my friend is saving up to go to los vegas, she uses her left over lunch money and saves it. just tell your mom you will give your 100% potential to do good in ballet and really try to pay for it.

I asked my mom and she let me. Just tell your mom that you really want to do it. That you will take it seriously. Worked for me.

So I'm guessing your mum is saying no?
Trust me! I do dance at college, and my mum said no to it but I did it and I've completely proved her wrong.
You have to tell her that your passionate about it and you know you want to do it and you are going to stick to it! You enjoy ballet and its good fitness and a really good hobbie because its good for strength. Then you say, "Please, you have to understand :)" and flutter your eye lashes haha.

Just ask! Also, if you don't know why the classes stopped, then ask your mom. Just a guess --- did your mom think you weren't practicing enough to make it worth it? Were you not enjoying it at the time? Did the time interfere with homework?

Tell your mom how you feel. Ballet lessons are very good for your posture, strength, stamina, and general health.

Good luck!

Well, if you really wanted this badly, then you wouldn't be scared to ask your mom. So I guess you don't want to take ballet as much as you think. I mean, its not like shes gonna yell at you for just asking, the worst she'll do is say no. So stop being scared and ask her, if you REALLY want to take ballet!

How old are you anyways?

Just tell her that by taking ballet classes it would keep you busy and out of trouble. This hobby would relieve you of any stress and eventually it will show up in your report card with better grades.

This worked for me when I wanted to join a boxing club at the age of 14.It worked!

Good luck!

Don't be afraid to ask her! Dance classes are good for you anyways. If she's not exactly saying yes, tell her nicely that dance - especially ballet makes you more graceful Remember to ask her on a good day - when she is in a good mood and you have raised your grades too =]! Good luck!!
