Question:ive takin my first belly dancing class and found iit to be a really beautiful dance, ive stopped doing sit ups the past 3 months and found it a bit hard to move in that way while im belly dancing. if i were to start doing sit ups again would i learn bbelly dancing quicker than i would if i didnt do sit ups aswell?

Perhaps, but not necessarily. It varies from person to person, which movements that they will find easy to execute and which ones they will find difficult. I've seen both thin and full-figured women at both ends of the spectrum. Some of the best belly dancers that I know are more full-figured than really thin. Very, very few belly dancers have six-pack abs. Belly dance incorporates alot of isolation movements. You need to be able to control individual parts of your body, moving them in a particular way, separate from the rest of your body. Most belly dancers that I know do pilates and/or yoga, along with some aerobic conditioning. You want to be well-toned, and pilates helps with that.

you don't want to get a defined six pack because it would look weird because belly dancing is suppossed to be a woman-like dance. strengthen up your abs but don't go to far =]
