Solo Time?

Question:So, just out of curiosity, what do you think? my solo this year is about 2:20 and i was wondering if you thought thats a normal time, too short, or too long. my teacher says out solos should be 1:30 to 2:00 minutes. but i think thats because tons of us are doing solos this year. so what do you think the average time of a solo should be. (its a lyrical, jazz piece, not modern or anything)

i think its a little long...when there is only one person on the stage a solo should be about the time ur teacher mentioned...after a certain time the audience loses interest and they feesl like it is dragging on...you want to leave the audience satisfied thats how u know its enough but not too much

Hmm...I'd say that's a tiny tiny tinyyyyy bit over what I think is a normal time.
You'd be amazed if you have a very strenuous routine at how much of a difference those 20 seconds make haha.
Our groups and solos are usually about 1:40ishh-2:00-ish.
But usually a little under two.
Also, at a lot of the competitions we go to, I believe they deduct points for solos over 2:00.

k mi solos like 3:30 but thats too long especially if ur gonna take it to compitition. it accually depends on the dance. lets say its short but like it has really kool techniques and jumps and leaps and nice movement in it. then ya urs is prolly at a good time rate. like mi solo is all jumps leaps turns and all these active movemen. like it kills omg u get soo tired after and like i always get points off at compititon becuz the maximume number of min u can hav for a solo is no more then 3 min so it sux for me cuz i never get anything above gold cuz its too long. i think ur solos timing is good.<=

i think as long as u hav a variety of moves and it doesn't get too boring 2:20 is fine... other wise i think 2mins is perfect! xx
