Position:Home>Dancing> Should I start ballet again at the age of 14? and what should I do to make the l

Question:I started ballet at the age of 3 but I quit around the age of 7, because we moved, and after we moved, I was so upset, so I decided not to continue it...I'm 14 in a few days and I think it's time I start again, since I loved it so much, and it was a big part of my life. I know most of the basics, I can also do pointe work... but I'm worried if I'll be really behind in the classes I go to...
What will I need to do to make the learning easier?
and What will I need to be prepared for ballet?

Thanks, & Please help!

You should definitely start ballet again if you love it.

Since you're worried about being behind in classes and know the basics, maybe you should try an intermediate class or one just above basics to ease the transition back into it.

I don't think you need to do anything to learn it again easier, it should come back to you as you go along.

I dont think so, you'll probably be put into a class with really young children. But since you love it so much you might want to give it a try. its now or never

I have gone in and out of the dance world. I hit my professional peek early then took time off and came back. I had no school to go back to because by then I moved so I started where ever I could. I would call schools looking for one that knew what they were teaching ... I would ask what style of ballet do you teach? I already knew what I needed to streanghthen so I would pick classes in different styles that would make me a better ballet dancer. If your upper body is too stiff try Horton, limon modern dance. If you like footwork and allegro, beats and leaps dont go to a russian ballet school they emphasize turns and extesions over the minute things like beats.
so I would say evaluate yourself see where your weeknesses are and take it from there. The basics are all the same. Take basics over and over on point and off. intermediate levels vary but basics are always the same and suppliment your dance style by working on your weeknesses THEN try them out on an intermediate class and see the end result.
youll blow them all away!
