Question:Okay hun, most of the people you see dancing are probably just kids that there parents told them they need exercise and put them in a dance class. Also those kids eat unhealthy and that is why they aren't getting any thinner, they go to a dance class for an hour a week and then go home the rest of the time after school and gorge themselves on junk food. Almost all the dancers that are actually good and have talent are not over weight. Actually i know a few people that aren't necessarily skinny but they are really good at dancing.

There is a difference between fully dedicating yourself to dance and doing 5 hours everyday for 5 days a week ya 25 hours and then you also have rehearsal for like 5 hours every Saturday, those people aren't out of shape and you compete like in any other sport like basketball. Yes I'm one of those people that dance that much and i also go to school so i dance from like 3:30 to like 8:30 and then go home and do homework. The other side people who dance once a week aren't gonna be in shape just like the kids that just play basketball once a week for an hour and that is all they do, nothing else and they go home and sit in front of the T.V. eating junk food, ha ya they aren't skinny either they are just as overweight as they people that just dance once a week. The people that play basketball on a team and have games and practice they are in shape.

So when you ask this question you also have to ask the same about basketball and baseball or any other sport.

It is not enough just to exercise regularly, you also have to eat properly. I am a dance instructor and the ones that I see that are over weight are the ones that eat tons of greasy, fast food. Sometimes though, it is genetics that play a large part.

they probably eat tons of crap food

It's probably because they don't maintain good eating habits... So perhaps they either gain weight from eating so poorly, or their weight just stays the same because of the dancing they do.

you have to eat well too....

I am not an overweight dancer, nor is anyone I know.... but I assume they arent very good because of their weight.

do you know what i don't know!!!! i love to dance, i dance alot and i'm overweight, maybe it's coz my **** is so big it isn't attached to my body and has a mind of it's own......men seem to like it hahahaha. big people got rhythm?!

Perhaps you are mistaking that for being incredibly muscular.

Diet also has a huge part in weight lose as well. Exercise and diet go hand in hand.

I hope this helps :)

two reasons:

sometimes their bodies just dont react quickly like others do..

and other times they get the mindset that since theyre doing daily excercise they can eat whatever they want.

when in reality you need to watch what you eat as well.

Yes, dancing is excellent physical exercise. Some people are built so that they look oversize. Consider what to eat at the dance or afterwards. Those snacks, or dinners, may go against all the exercise done at the dance. When asked to bring finger foods to a dance, I gladly agree; but, I do not eat at the dance or after I return home. Just my way of keeping slim.

They might not eat properly.

Define "dancing regularly". My dance teachers dance regularly = 5-6 hours a day 6 days a week. They are all in incredible shape.
I dance regularly 2 hours a day 3-5 days a week. I'm in OK shape by all average standards, as well as most of my classmates. Noone is really overweight, but some have "a few extra pounds".
Some people I know dance regularly 2 hours every Saturday. They can be any shape and size.

People who typically dance 6 hours a day don't have a habit of overeating because the're is always more dancing to be done later that day, after lunch and breakfast.

There could be two reasons
a) poor diets
or more likely
b) yes dance is a very physical activity but it just doesn't burn that many calories. Dance is a high intensity low duration activity, meaning you do very intense activity for short spurts of time. Usually dancers aren't moving long enough to keep their heart rate up which is what burns calories. In high intensity short duration exercises your energy is coming from your blood sugar not your stores of energy. So in all reality an hour of class really only burns about 200-300 calories.
