Tango or salsa?

I dance both Argentinian tango and Salsa. I know more about Salsa - I prefer either Cuban style (on "3") or LA style (on "1") although I also dance some New York style (on "2"). If you learn Salsa, I suggest Cuban style (also known as Miami style) since it is the easiest of the three. LA style is just shifting your starting beat, and NY style is very different, more syncopated.

It depends on my mood, but usually tango is when I'm more tired and just enjoy walking with a girl very close to me. I usually only like to dance tango with people i'm comfortable with because of the closeness. It's much slower, and I notice older people seem more into it, and I feel it is more sensual.

Salsa is more upbeat and energetic and more dynamic, but you aren't always as directly connected with your partner. Some people prefer this, as it can be more personalized and stylized. It can also be more flashy and showy to wow people with cool moves.The crowd is usually younger, and in my opinion it is more fun and flirty/sexy.

I did both Argentine tango and salsa, although both were fun, I liked the salsa class better. You get a better workout and its very upbeat and I like to move my hips:)

I don't dance either but I prefer to watch Salsa :)
