Position:Home>Dancing> Do ballet dancers include 'jogging' as part of their workouts?

Question:It's not recomended, becasue running can add more stress to the knees and ankles, making them weaker. Running can increase risk of shin splints, which aren't fun. Like an answerer has said before, you're better off with swimming, becuase that won't destroy your knees.

not necessarily but it's a great exercise to compliment dance. It's good cardio and it'll help build your stamina.

Some do, some don't. It's all a matter of preferance. If you do decide to jog you would have to stretch before AND especially after because when you run you're making your muscles stronger and less flexible so to achieve that muscel with flexibility you NEED to stretch after.

Not ballet dancers, the warm up with barre. Jazz and hiphop classes include jogging in workouts, though.

Generally, no....their feet and knees get enough abuse at the barre and doing center and they don't want to risk injury. Many dancers swim if they want to do cardio exercise.

some doo
but like squats and things like that r more efficient for them

yes we do!!!!!! We warm up with barre in class, but we do jog on a regular basis to keep up good fitness.

Some od, some dont, but its good cardio!
