Position:Home>Dancing> I want to be a dancer... Is it too late?

Question:I am 16 and have never taken any dance classes [My parents wouldn't ever let me]. I am now about to leave school and my parents have said it's my choice what I want to do from now on. I am thinkin of joining a dance college. Would I struggle too much? Is it too late?

Depends on what kind of dancing you want to do. Ballet? Way too late.... Jazz/Hip Hop you might be OK. You will not know how much (or little) talent you have until you take classes, so start as soon as you can. Good Luck

Never too late. Ask yourself first, are you going to be a professional dancer and have lucrative income? Or take dance lesson for past time and take a serious degree would be fine.

I think you should definately go for it. I started when I was 10, but all of my friends had started when they were 3. I worked really hard and within one year I was already on pointe and in the same classes as my friends that started when they were 3. Now, I get a lot of great parts. Definately follow your dreams and just work really hard. Good luck!

i was 16 when i joined hip hop classes, i have the talent, things went faster than they would be and now im professionally working. There is no such thing as late in learning something! After all, everyday you will learn something new in life :)
Go for it and have fun

Never too late - go for it!

It's never too late to start, but consider going to a liberal arts college where you can major in dance but also anything else too, in case you don't like it or you decide it's not your best option. It's always good to have a back-up anyway just in case you injure yourself.

get into lessons now devote yourself take summer lessons and skip college for a year to get more training to better your chance it also depends on what type of dance
