I have the same problem u have great flexibility in your legs if you can do the splits on the right and left the problem is u need more flexibility in your hips practice the butterfly stretch or wat i like to do is lay on my back lift my legs up then open them in the splits (gravity takes over) or as we do at my studio go to a wall open your legs in the splits and try to scoot closer to the wall or have a partner push u to the wall practice every day and you will be able to do it! (See i am doing the splits in the air in my profile picture u can too)
Ist you should master a fouetee make sure you are doing these things
~Keep your prep even and you weight balanced in the center of your plie.
~Execute your pirouette, keeping your core tight and strong.
~As soon as you spot to the front, shoot your leg out and do the motion you have practiced at the barre over and over. Keep your leg straight and toe pointed (of course) as you carry it into your second position before your snap in the passe'.
~The most common problem is sinking or shifting your chest as your working leg is shooting out. Keep your back strong and hold your chest in place as you execute this. Don't let a shoulder fall or shrug.
~Make sure your foot is flat when you plie between the fouettes', many dancers try to plie and stay in releve' at the same time, this is wrong.
With all these suggestions and more force and practice you should be able to do five

oh man i know what u mean. ive have the same problem. for 6 months ive streactched and i havent got even closer. imm still 30cm away from the ground.
but ive heard that a little push and relaxation can go a long way.

I suggest what kitty kat said. I also would try just doing everyday. My teacher told me to like just sit there with my legs open while I'm doing homework or something. So when you sit down to do something, open your legs as far as possible and lean down to do it. Yeah, it hurts, but it helps.

I also agree with kitty kat. PNF stretches are very helpful, as are super splits in the middle split position. It hyperextends the hip flexors a bit so you get that extra stretch!

defianty butterfly sits they do wonders and try doing a center split on the floor in front of a wall and have somone push your butt closer to the wall untill it starts to hurt. It worked for me hope it works for you =D

Since I dance to, when I started I visited this web (my dance instructor said they were also called box or straddle splits).
