Question:Most Irish dancer dance to this song... It's used in soft shoe dances. I know this is a very common Irish tune and many people have redone it, but who is the artist of the "Boys Of Ballisodare" that most Irish dancers use? It sounds more modern than other versions I've heard... Also, would this be considered a jig, slip jig, or reel? Thanks so much!!

The boys of ballisodare is most commonly a reel although there is a slip jig of the same name!! The reel version is the most common among dancers! I don't know who plays the version that is most commonly danced to...I am a musician not a dancer!!

I'm not familiar with that tune, but the largest concentration of Irish Dancers can be found at diddlyi.com
