Position:Home>Dancing> I stopped dancing, should I continue?

Question:I danced from 3 to 10 yrs. old. When I moved to Georgia, I never went back to it, which caused me to lose some skill, but I have also gained about 30 lbs. I've been working on the weight, no problem. The thing is, the last time I did ballet, I was 3. I'm 14 now, and I really want to do dance!!!

I look like an idiot in ballet classes. I really don't know what I'm doing. Do you know of any great movies, books, or summer camps in Georgia, that can get me in ballet this year? I'm a fast learner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you enjoy it, then dance.
it doesnt matter how much you suck at it.
though im sure you dont suck.

dance is excersize, can be fun, and lets you meet new people.

dance for fun.
the competition&crap is extra, not the main focus

Dance. It's part of you. It's the way you express yourself. Plan to dance for the rest of your life. It's a great hobby and it can become a wonderful profession.

If ballet doesn't work for you, move to some form of modern dance or even tap. No one is automatically good at anything. It takes work and practice. Keep at it. Locate a dance camp and go.

There are a lot of jobs in the world of dance that do not necessarily mean you hve to be a pro dancer, such as a business manager of a dance company or a threatre manager on Broadway.

Keep dancing....be happy...live life to its fullest.

Dance, don't worry about your weight, realize dance is exercise, and exercise is good for you.

Dance the style you want, and practice when you can. The only thing that will hurt you is not trying. Realize everyone starts with no skill so everyone looks silly at first, but if you have any talent in the field you'll get better.

It doesn't matter how much of an idiot you look in your ballet calss, if you keep at it and work hard it will come. It will take a lot of hard work but i've seen girls improve their technique soo much in 1 year. Your still young enough to catch up. Just get the best teacher you can find and work hard.

centre stage- good ballet movie

Hey, don't worry about looking dumb. I looked dumb when I first started (thirteen years old last year i'm as old as you!) and I still kinda do, but it's getting better and the teacher is really encouraging. I supplement myself with ballet knowledge online and I even bought the piano music score so I can feel the music better.

good luck!
