see how long you can stand on demi pointe or go ice skating. For ice skating you need really strong ankles.

I don't really know how you can check if you have strong ankles but i do know that you can help guarentee your pointe future by doing some exercises to strengthen your ankles. the best one i've found, the alphabet. just write them with your feet when your bored. not only does it help pass the time, but it also strengthens your ankles.

it depends on how old you are. most girls go on point around 11, 12, or 13. talk to your instructor and see what they think. you can also ask your doctor. If they think your almost ready, see if they will let you get de-shank pointe shoes, or take the point class in your flat shoes.

There is more to going en pointe than just strong ankles. You need to have proper body placement also, so you don't fall over. Strength most certainly plays a part, but proper technique is essential before beginning pointe. Ask your teacher if she/he thinks you may be ready soon. It usually takes several years. Good luck :)

go to a dance physiotherapist,
i went there and they tell you if your ready to go on pointe.
Its not just your ankle strength you need to consider before going on pointe but theres alot you need to put into consideration (your point, your turnout etc....)
if you go to a physiotherapist they will test you on all these things.
