Question:My dance tryout is in about 1 month. i am really stressed and i am looking for advice for shaking the nerves, and also improving my leaps, splits, and kicks. i have both my right and left split, but it is very diffucult for me to sit in my right split for longer than 30 seconds. also my leaps aren't very high i plie and have been working on muscle strength in my thighs, but it doesn't seem to be helping. for my tryouts it is also required that i have my right double piroutte but this is very diffucult for me because of spotting. i'm really nervous because i have only been doing this style of dance for 2 yrs and i am afraid the judges will not take as much notice to me as the girls who have been dancing for all their lives!
please help my coach says i need to show more confidence
while dancing! so if you have any tips or videos on improving my leaps, kicks, splits, pirouttes that would be much appreciated!
also do you think judges take weight into judgment when judging?

to shake the nerves, picture yourself doing the move perfectly . . . this will give you confidence too

they pro. wont make you hold your split for that long

for leg strength, lay on your back and put your legs straight up in the air . . . criss-cross your legs down until you reach the bottom . . . this will strenghten your core too

for spotting, stand up straight and look in a mirror . . . then turn you body around and keep your head looking in the mirror . . . then when you can't turn your body without moving your head, snap your head to the other side and bring your body around . . . do this often and that should help A LOT

don't care what the judges think . . . the will think what they want to whether your worried or not

for confidence, just smile and make all of your moves fluid and not weak . . . your confidence will show through!

they will (hopefully) only take weight into consideration if it affects your dancing and sometimes your health
