Question:I am a current swing dancer, i do lindyhop east coast and west coast.

I am in my late teen years, is this to old to start ballet?
I LOVE my swing dancing but I would like to have some type of dance I can do on my own.
As in, not needing a partener to dance.

I know ballet would help my swing and posture amazingly as well, i just need to know how badly it hurts your feet? How you start and everything. help!?

Ballet doesnt hurt your feet. Pointe does. Pointe really hurts. You wear these shoes with a wooden block on the bottom and stand on your toes. In ballet you just wear slippers and you dont go all the way on your toes. It is good. I would do it just if it is for a hobby or pracyice for other dances. I wouldnt do pointe yet until you are pretty good at ballet.

EDIT: In other words... the only difference is the shoes.

It's defintally not to old to start. Ballet with slippers is not that bad. But if you are thinking about hurting your feet with pointe shoes, it's tough on the feet at first but it's not that bad. If you do pointe all the time, that's when it gets hard on your feet. I'm still learning myself. So yeah go for it.

It is never to old to begin ballet! (As long as you aren't hoping to pursue a professional ballet career). How well you do will depend on how much natural talent you have (it sounds like you have some!), and how much effort you are willing to put into it. Even if you are not planning to study it seriously, or long-term, I think it would be great for teaching you posture, poise, and gracefulness to apply to the swing dancing. Ballet is wonderful for body sculpting and exercise, as well.
