Thanks :)

You should stretch outside of class, maybe do some footwork. Also, you should practice things like dances that you learn at home as well.
For me, I don't have a specific routine for staying in shape, just eat healthy and then I attend class multipul times a week, so I don't have much of a workout.
My favorite part of ballet is progressing. It might sound lame but all of my learning combined to take me somewhere is the best part. I recently made pointe and that let me know that I had done it, my work was paying off.
My tip to you is don't compare yourself to others. They might have been dancing longer, or might catch one skill faster, but you need to just work as hard as YOU can.
Just start stretching now! You will need to stretch a lot. (And make sure you are stretching before classes too!)

HAVE FUN!!

Yes. Majorly. I'm the captain on my teammm:)
I do a routine of 3 pleas, 2 grands, and keep repeating it and then I do leaps across my room.
I love the leaps and turns. They have to be the most challenging!
Make sure you stretch for at least 10 minutes.
Take classes, make up routines, and do lots of turns!

-Do you do any work outside of class?
Not usually. But I do recommend stretching everyday and try and do some of the exercises, just to help you improve.

-Do you have like a routine or anything for staying in shape?
No...But some classes I have done you do a little bit strength work like push ups, sit ups etc.

-What do you love most about ballet?
Its just so beautiful. To watch and to do.

-Tips for newbies?
Go in there with an open mind! Try everything at least once and remember that it is a beginners class so you can't except to be perfect straight away. And pointe your toes lol

-What do you think I should be doing to prepare myself?
Just some general stretching to help in flexibility.

I hope this helps :) Good Luck!

~rach, If you need anymore help feel free to email me.

~yes. I had to stop a while back bc of money, but I still dance (I have a studio at home- the house was inherited, but we have little money coming in)
~yoga, swimming, tons of dance, I usually do some yoga (30 minutes) dance until I drop, then get up, and swim laps for an hour
~The fluidness of the motions, the concentration, the calm, and how it helps me get better acting roles
~Keep at it, practice constantly, stay hydrated and ALWAYS stretch
~stretch, work on flexibility, build muscle strength.

i stretch outside of class. i point my toes and do arm circles. pleas+grandes+piruettes+leaps. you can do these at your house. turns are the hardest 4 me because you have to keep focus on one point in the room. i love the dancing(lol duh) the splits, the leaps.
good luck!!!!!!

I don't do tons of "work" outside of class, but whenever I am in line at the store of anything I make sure to
1.stand on both legs evenly (don't pop my hip)
2. engage my core (this will make it more natural feeling when you get in class so you will be stronger)
3. practice engaging and disengaging my hamstrings (so It becomes easier to know when it's engaged in class)
4. and kegal exercises (pelvic floor muscle exercises) (if you don't know what that is there are plenty of website that tell you how to do them.) (if you get your core and your pelvic floor muscles to work together, your leg will feel lighter and your extension will be easier and prettier.

and then when I'm at home i do
1. sit ups
2. push ups
3. thera-band exercises to strengthen my ankles
4...STRETCH

What i love most about the feeling of ballet is that I feel beautiful when I do it, and when I'm in class...I'm in class and present and working my hardest. If you don't always work your hardest and remember that this is what you love to do, then often you will get bored and not like class.
