Position:Home>Dancing> Am I too old to start ballet at the age of 13?

Question:My mom said I could start taking ballet classes soon. I know what school I'm taking them from but I have no experiance at all. I want to know is am I too old. My sister sews costumes for this school & sometimes i go to watch the classes. 1 day the beginners class was going on & most of the girls were 7 & 8 but there was 1 my age & she didn't seem to enjoy it much.
also, should i get a private tutor to start out then start ballet when ireach the level where most of the girls my age are?

You are not to old. My cousin, Myra, started when she was 16 and that about 10 years ago. She is a professional dancer now. If you are too embarrassed to be in a beginners class with youngsters, you can consider a private tutor. But older students accelerate to higher levels faster if they try hard enough, so you would not be in a younger class for long. Good Luck!

Your NEVER too old to start a good thing!
:)

Please don't let the ages of the kids in class discourage you. Follow your interests. Perhaps an adult class will help you feel better about it. I know someone who started ballroom dancing last year at the age of 50. Private tutors will be expensive.Good luck.

Of course not!

NEVER TOO LATE TO START DANCING.
If you read some of the people's profiles in America's Best Dance crew, some of them have only been dancing for about 4 years.
I hope you join ballet and enjoy it :]

Normally beginners are alot younger like 4,5,6,7,8 but you are never too old. If you just wanna do it for fun! If you wanna be serious then you are too old. There are even beginning adult classes!
Go and have fun!!

good luck!
