Its where you 'isolate' particular parts of your body. Like you might be doing a rib isolation and so the only part of your body moving is the ribs.

Have a look at this Kaba Modern routine and watch from 2:08. Those are isolations.

Isolations are in all forms of dance.

Hope this helps :)

in an easy way its when youre moving one part of your body but not the rest like moving your ribs from side to side but not your hips or shoulders or anything along with it.

Isolations are used in all styles of dance. Some dance styles may feature isolations more than others.

I do Middle Eastern Belly Dance which has lots of isolation movements... head slides/circles, ribcage slides/circles, hip slides/circles, etc. When doing hip slides or circles, only the hips should move, while keeping your head, shoulders, and upper torso still. The isolation movement is done in isolation from other body parts.
