I think krumping is a form of self-expression that is a way of venting the anger that you are dealing with in your life. So, the movements will be more aggressive showing anger, frustration, intent, etc.

It is my understanding that it started in the urban area of Los Angeles - this is where I grew up (South Central / Los Angeles) - this is where you would be dealing with the frustrations of an inner city - drugs, crime, and all the other factors you have to deal with to survive in a big city.

I think clowning was an off shoot - where a krumper decided to take a light hearted approach - this was a person who was / or is an optimist and looks toward the positive things of life and structure the dance toward the expression of the positive.

The two are related by form and origin, sharing the same basic speed and a similar movement pattern including a rapid rhythmic bobbling and arms swinging, as well as the intermittent flex of the spine and thrust-out chest, which is called a "chest-pop."

Krumping, however, is a more aggressive dance form and is intended as an expression of anger or a release of pent-up emotion from the struggles of life through violent, exaggerated, and dramatic moves. High variation, individuality, and movement are the foundations of the Krump or bobble-bounce. "Dissing” or jokes are often involved and “sick” movements, such as snaking, grimey or any sort of action that has any kind of sexual relation are often highly regarded.

OK!! let me clear things up as a responsible person for dance, no krump came from any clown and no clown came from any krump Tight eyez and Mijo started the movement in Tight eyez's mothers basement, krumping is more agressive and it has techniques and an actual form it is an acutal dance form clowing is more of a silly thing to do and it's more of a in your face haha taunt, clowing isn't a style that can be learned in dance class krump is clowning is more of a underground movement krumping is out in the open!! oh and to other people above me if you don't know what krump is or where it came from please just say so or don't answer at all.
