Position:Home>Dancing> I am Teaching a class for Modern 11-18. what streches can i use? They are not al

Question:Be certain the dancers warm up aerobically before you have them stretch. They will be much better able to stretch after that. Start with the head and work down the body, moving every body part. Next do a combination of movements. Depending on the Length of the class you may want to add some exploratory or creative work. On the diagonal do gross motors like leaping, skipping, or turning. At the end of the class go to the floor and spend a good 15 minuets on stretching. Work on straddle and split stretches. Work on the back and on leg extensions.

Lower back stretch

Stag stretch in various positions, standing or sitting

Quadriceps stretch

Hamstring stretch

Of course, if teaching barre work, the releve in ballet is popular. It will stretch the ankle/foot muscles even though they are doing modern instead of ballet.
