i really dont think one class is harder than the other- i just think theyre very different.
jazz is stronger, its more hip-hop than lyrical. Jazz helps you on many levels- strength, jumps, etc. It helps you hear beats in the music, while lyrical hears lyrics and moves with that. Jazz is not as emotional.
Lyrical is more modern. Its more emotional. When you do a lyrical dance, youre usually trying to get a point across- lyrical is very expressive. You also need to be strong for lyrical, but in a smooth way, more like ballet. Lyrical also has turns and kicks, but its not as fast, its always filled with more feelings. They dont do as many "tricks" like jumps and fast turns and cartwheels, things like that.
Personally, i like jazz more because it helps me a lot with my strength and turns, but i know a lot of people who really get a lot out of lyrical.
Whatever you choose, happy dancing!

Jazz has more spunk.

jazz can be more upbeat while lyrical is more of slow songs and doing interpretive dance. if you want to be challenged, lyrical is definately harder- but jazz can be more fun
