I used to be able to do the splits as a little girl until I quit dancing. I couldn't do them for a while, so I wanted to be able to, to improve my flexability. I stretched in a split position [each leg] for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 second time intervals. Like I'd be in split positions for 10 secs...then I'd rest and do 20 secs...and so on.
Do it each night until you feel so stretched out you can just flow intot he splits. Trust me you will feel the flexability come.
And just do any hamstring stretches...Those help alot! Stretch whenever you have a chance...during homework...sitting..etc. Hope I helped!

Don't worry Maggie B If You Put your mind to it you'll be able to

Being able to do a split is not something that is "learned". It's a matter of stretching the muscles and ligaments thus increasing the range of motion of the joint.

Stretching should be done carefully, especially when you're stretching the muscles and ligaments to such an extreme.

Warm up well. You'll know your muscles are warmed up with you break a good sweat. When you stretch, use continuous, slow motion, increasing the intensity of the stretch for between 15 and 25 seconds. Some people think that if you hold a stretch longer the muscle will stretch faster. This is actually counter productive because holding a solid stretch in excess of 25 - 30 seconds will cause the muscle to start to contract and spasm.

Repeat the stretch 5 - 10 times on each side. Remember to cool down slowly. Don't do anything until you have stopped sweating, this will indicate that you have cooled down sufficiently.

Good Luck.

your not far which is good, but don't push it because you'll pull a muscle. I've been a dancer for 11 years. So my advice would be to stretch for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 at night. Make sure your very warm first because you'll ve more flexible. Also if you shower before you stretch you'll be really warm and it will help, but whatever you do, dont push it because you'll lose it.

stretch for ten minutes every night and you will get them for sure...easily

stand up against the wall and have somebody push one of your legs up to your head and hold it for 1 min and then go into your splits for a min and do it on both sides...it has amazing results...

of course. do this everyday n i'm sure u'll b able 2. go down to the max and hold, start with 10sec, then rest n then do the other side. slowly increase the time u hold ur stretch.

u could also improve it by lying down on the floor with ur back flat on the ground. pull one leg towards your face and hold. do on the other side

do this every day/ every morning when u wake up n every night b4 sleeping

all da best

If you really extend the time you hold your stretch and breathe properly, you may be able to. Hold your split for at least 30 seconds. Good Luck!
