When I don't have any rosin, I use a little bit of water... i just pour a little bit at the back of the room and use it when i need to.... although, when the water dries on your shoes, it tends to get a little slippery, but it should work for a couple of days.

rub the bottom of your dance shoes on hard concrete. =) idk what it is, but it works.

You can buy your own 2 oz. bag of rosin online at
http://www.discountdance.com/frame_set.p...

It's about $4 and is probably at dance stores if you don't want to order online.

I don't know how well this would work, but try using chalk dust. It might give you the grip that you need w/o damaging the wood floor.

If push comes to shove, buy sachel of rosin from your local string instrument/orchestra shop. Rub some of that onto your shoes or if possible, sprinkle some of it onto the floor.

also try sanding the end of ur shoes so that they aren't smooth any more....
