Dance vs. Figure Skating?

Question:I do dance, but I want to hear what you think is better, harder, more fun, a better way to spend time, more fun to watch, most diverse, etc. Thanks! I want to hear all opinions! I won't mind if you insult one, just nothing too mean or personal. Thanks, again!

i have done both and i can't say one is better than the other. i was a competitive figure skater for 10 years and skating and dancing go together. i think great fun can be had in either. they are both a great way to express your creativity, beauty, and grace.

Well, i have a friend that does both. I personally do ballet and L.O.V.E. it, but it depends. I'll tell you now, if you want to make a career out of one of these, choose figure skating. Ballet won't pay you, you'll be broke all the time, starved to death and... well, starving is reason enough! In figureskating, you'll do competitions, classes are much less expensive and even as a kid you get a little bit of cash if your good enough to get to big competitions. As a hobby, i would take both because to do figure skating, you need ballet to help with flexibility and grace, but not everyone can afford two diferent classes so i would just go with figure skating since, momney wise, it's alot better and i think you'll have more fun and less... "strictness" if you know what i mean.

I love dancing to blues, soul, 50s cruising music and such and find it easy (no steps to learn and great opportunities for motion) . I yearn for the figure skating I did many years ago. Skating takes knowledge of how to move the blades but I love the gliding feeling on the turns and straightaways. It takes more conscious attention to what I am doing when skating as dancing, it just happens and changes every moment and though Ihave danced solo in public (getting over lovesickness) I like that dancing is with another person.
