Is it dumb that I hide the fact that I dance?

Question:Lately, I've been taking dance classes. The reason I'm doing it is so I can say I have dance experience when I audition for plays. (I'm an actress) But I haven't told anyone. The reason I don't tell anyone is because my two best friends dance and that's ALL they talk about and I'm afraid if I told them they'd think I was copying them. Is this kind of dumb? I hate lying to them but I don't want them to know.

I definitely understand where you are coming from. I don't think its dumb, because it sounds like something I would do haha. People are really judgemental, even friends. It makes sense to hide something like that. but if they do find out, just explain you're doing it for the plays!

Personally, I'd think it's dumb, no offense. But, that's a good idea for acting. I think you should tell people, because I'm sure your bestfriends would understand and even support your decision. Then you could all talk about dance together! :) I don't see why you don't tell them.

no its not its your own personal business unless you want people to know then thats your own choice.

You should be proud of the fact that you are taking these dance classes to better your career. You shouldnt be embarassed, and if they are true friends, they will be there to back you up if you tell them. True friends are there for you no matter what.

No, many people are shy in fact . i know many people who do it.

well i personally think you should tell them. if they are real friends then they will understand. and yes i think it is dumb for you to be hiding the fact that you dance. dancing is the most awesome sport.

I am dancer but did not tell anyone when I moved to another place. They knew that I loved dancing but didn't know that I ws a professional dancer. I was amazed by their schock when I created 3 dances. everyone was shocked but it was a nice surprise. It's good to talk about it as long as you don'g brag.

tell them about your talent

dont hide anything away from them. if u have someting in common with them they would like u even more.

So what if they think you are copying them. Tell them it's for an acting career. If you tell them, you may have more to talk about with them, but if they are rude to you because they think you are copying them, maybe you shouldn't be friends with them. Just a thought. Keep on dancing!
