Position:Home>Dancing> What's a proper ballet outfit for a guy?

Question:what do you usually wear to dance? i just started ballet and i usually wear black spandex running tights (i tried the ballet tights and they were really uncomfortable), white ballet flats, and a white leotard which are under the tights. we're also required to wear white socks with the tights if our tights are not footed. where can i find the socks? they're supposed to be made of the same material as the tights.

also, if i have a leotard would i still need a dance belt? what's the point of wearing a dance belt anyway?

I'm surprised your studio lets you wear running tights instead of ballet tights. You wouldn't be allowed to take class at my studio...Believe me, you get used to the tights.

Guys are supposed to wear black or white tights, a black or white tight fitting t-shirt (opposite color as the tights) and black or white ballet slippers (usually the opposite color of the tights as well). Dance belts are pretty much a must unless you want your junk all over the place (in simplest terms), and it's courteous to those taking class with you as well, for obvious reasons. You won't be able to find socks the same material as running tights, so I'd ask your teacher about that one.

i suggest asking a guy at your company/studio that you are taking classes from. Also, check with local dance attire stores, i'm sure they know what they are talking about.
