Capezio has many very nice black and white canvas soft shoes. You will want a split-soled shoe, of course, to better show off the arch of your foot and you will want canvas as oppsed to leather because frankly it looks better and it breathes easier. They are also cheaper in canvas than leather and much easier to clean - you can throw them in the washing machine, but the downside is they do wear out faster and they don't form to your foot in the same way that leather does. Canvas shoes don't also grow with your foot as easily as leather.

Although it depends on what brand you have available to you, I would recommend Capezio to you as a young dancer.

I like canvas ballet shoes, I think that they're the best! You can get them for a really good price at discount dance and there's a great selection. I think mine are capezio, but Blochs are good too!

get split soles. :)

most dance shops have very helpful assistants who know a lot about the shoes they stock. I prefer full sole leather, because it makes your feet stronger and the leather is easier to maintain and looks better

beginner to intermediate?
so not pointe yet..
so maybe black ballet slippers or jazz shoes
