Position:Home>Dancing> What is your favorite style of dance and why?

Question:I have few...
African (i feel so alive when i do this style...it's very grounded and upbeat) you basically throw all technical training out the window.

Jazz- Specifically Character Jazz like Fosse. It's so fun to dance Jazz. It's upbeat and working the face is fun while dancing.

Contemporary- I love expressing the music in dance. It's fun to see a song take shape into a lyrical dance.

(ps...I have been dancing for 23 years, I teach, and I dance professionally with a Company In Orlando called Emotions Dance Company.)

i vote either jazz or ballet.
i like how in jazz, there are so many aspects that go into to dance well. You have to understand music, be strong, be daring to do new tricks or get more turns. you also have to just love dance so theres always that passion. It has so many different varieties- like character as you were saying, plus hip hop-ish, or modern jazz. Theres just so much you can do!
Plus ballet- mostly because of the end result. Watching a pas de deux- almost nothing better than that. But also how it can be so graceful and strong at the same time. Plus its got pointe going for it! <3

belly dance and the britney-spears-dance

tap, because it's my strongest type besides pointe and i can just lose myself in each intricate sound

hip-hop because I love to be able to move fast and it looks awesome dancing with a group!!

I like my style best!!!

I just dance what I feel... But it comes across as a sort of hybrid of ballet, lyrical, modern, lyrical jazz, and sometimes a little ethnic-fusion kind of stuff. Basically, I've taken techniques from all the training I've done, and combined it into what feels good.

I love French Jive. There are lots of places around here where it's danced, and, as the men lead the women we don't need to worry too much about attending dance classes. It's also fun to go to 'Rock and Roll' nights, where people dress in fifties clothes and a 50's type band plays live. It's more challenging to dance jive at these events, but great fun. I have also been to Paris, and, through the medium of the internet, found some French Jive clubs and had a ball there. One club was in a cellar, a pianist was playing blues, the French were looking tres chic (as they do), and it was an ace experience which I wouldn't have had if I didn't jive.

Contemporary... not quite lyrical, not quite modern, note quite jazz. It's the perfect medium. Right in the middle where I can express myself and still have smooth movements.

Ballet - It's difficult and all about fundamentals, but I love it and I get this like adrenaline rush everytime I dance ballet.
It's like you're telling a story, through dance.

Jazz- Like ballet, but a little bit more upbeat and it's fun.

Hip-Hop- Just love it, especially when Im dnainv gat parties or clubs with my girls.

ballet, because of the grace and how delicate it can be...also modern, because of the self expression and uniqueness.

my 2 favs r.... tap and jazz because u fell so free and u can do just about ur own thing and make it look grace full!
